Dr. Richard Battey

DOCTOR - Director

Dr. Richard Battey received his Medical Degree from Louisiana State University in 1989. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Battey is also certified in every treatment we provide here!

Phillip Solar

CRNA - cofounder/Director

Phillip Solar is a cofounder of Southern Oregon Medical Aesthetics and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). Mr. Solar is passionate about anti-aging technologies and treatments. He cofounded SOMA with Joyce because he wanted to introduce the world of medical aesthetics to Southern Oregon.

Phillip earned his CRNA license from Kaiser Permanente in association with California State Fullerton in 2001 and has been an advanced practice nurse in anesthesia ever since. He continues his education in both anesthesia and medical aesthetics and is certified in every treatment that is provided here at SOMA.

Joyce Solar

RN - cofounder/master injector

Joyce is a cofounder, Master Injector and Ultherapy Specialist of Southern Oregon Medical Aesthetics Center. She has worked in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Medical Aesthetics for some of the top plastic surgeons in Southern California for over 20 years.

Joyce moved to Southern Oregon in 2006 with her family. She introduced the world of advanced medical aesthetics to Grants Pass in 2011. Mrs. Solar opened Southern Oregon Medical Aesthetics in 2015 and was recognized by the Merz-Ultherapy Company as an expert and was hired on as a National Clinical Educator.

Along with Ultherapy, Joyce’s passion and focus is facial aesthetic injectables. She strives to stay on the cutting edge of medical aesthetics by attending multiple continuing education seminars and networking with colleagues nationally.

Amanda Solar

RN, BSN - aesthetic nurse

Amanda grew up in Grants Pass and received her Bachelor of Science of Nursing (BSN) at California State University San Marcos. Prior to her BSN, she has also received a Bachelor of Microbiology degree at Oregon State University. She is currently obtaining her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Bradley University while working here in office.

Previously, Amanda worked as a Patient Coordinator and Assistant here at SOMA. She is passionate about natural anti-aging technology and making each patient feel confident in their skin. Amanda performs several treatments here at SOMA including Sculptra, PRP/PRFM hair restoration, injectables, sema-glutides, and SylfirmX.

Karlea Nott

Advanced Aesthetician - coolsculpt and hydrafacial specialist

Karlea Nott is SOMA’s advanced aesthetician that specializes in CoolSculpt and HydraFacial. Currently she provides expertise in not only CoolSculpt and HydraFacial, but also in dermaplaning, PCA skin peels, Laser treatments, Microneedling, and SylfirmX.

Karlea was born and raised here in Grants Pass. She attended Aveda Institute in Portland, Oregon where she earned her Oregon Board of Cosmetology Esthetics License. She then earned her Advanced Aesthetics Licensing through North West College of Beauty. She joined the SOMA team February 2020 and is excited to share the newest techniques in medical aesthetics.

Laney Volbeda

AESTHETICIAN

Laney grew up in Grants Pass and graduated from GPHS in January of 2021. Since then she has developed a passion for medical aesthetics and patient care. Her friendly personality creates a warm, welcoming environment as soon as you step into the office.

Laney has recently graduated from Southern Oregon Dermal Academy in spring of 2022 where she earned her Oregon Board of Cosmetology Esthetics License. Here at SOMA Laney will be performing HydraFacials and PCA Skin peels.

Destiney Lopez

AESTHETICIAN

Destiney Lopez is a licensed aesthetician who specializes in eyebrow laminations. Currently she provides not only eyebrow laminations, but also Dermaplaning, Microneedling , Hydrafacials, and skin peels.

Destiney was raised in Brookings, OR and graduated from BHHS. She has relocated to Grants Pass where she received her license from Southern Oregon Dermal Academy in the fall of 2022. She has a love for medical aesthetics and her outgoing personality makes for a fun and loving enviroment for all of our patients.

Alysha Harvey

Alysha was born and raised in Grants Pass and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 2014. Her previous experience in customer service and bubbly personality creates a comfortable and personal environment for all our patients. As Joyce’s assistant she is excited to help you meet all your aesthetic needs.

Aubree Esterline

PATIENT COORDINATOR

Aubree grew up in Grants Pass and graduated from Grants Pass High School in 2018. She has background experience in customer service and patient care. At SOMA you can find her assisting providers, taking phone calls, and ensuring each patient feels welcome and well cared for.
